Here's the post at VizEds and snd.org:

The Orlando Sentinel is seeking an experienced visual leader to direct the efforts of its graphics department.

In this position you’ll coach, manage and evaluate the Sentinel’s team of five graphic artists; set direction and standards for illustration and graphics style; research and create graphics for A1 and work with editors throughout the newsroom to plan the visual storytelling for daily coverage and enterprise projects.

The Graphics Editor is one of three department heads who report to Associate Managing Editor Bonita Burton. It's an exciting period of rapid change at the Sentinel, and the Graphics Editor will be expected to work closely with the Design Editor and Executive Photo Editor to promote innovative thinking throughout the visuals group.

Candidates should have:
* A bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism
* At least five years of experience as a graphic journalist
* Well-developed organizational and communications skills
* A mastery of contemporary graphics and animation programs, including Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash and 3D rendering software
* A thorough understanding of English grammar, usage and syntax and a working knowledge of libel and privacy law.

Management experience at a daily newspaper is strongly preferred, though senior artists with high leadership potential will be considered.

To apply, please send a resume, references and portfolio of your best explanatory storytelling to:
